Please note: Megalo will provide all equipment and printing materials. Students or School need to provide light-coloured cotton fabric and t-shirts for printing.
Course Description:
Students will design and print their own t-shirt during this fun-filled three-hour session with one of Megalo’s experienced printmakers. This outreach program will aim to introduce students to the fast and fabulous medium of screenprinting. Using hand cut stencils students will create their own unique fabric prints on t-shirts, bags and fabrics.
Course Outline:
Students will:
- be shown examples of screenprints from the Megalo archive to inspire and talk through the processes and various techniques
- design and cut one or two stencils using their own imagery and ideas
- be guided through printing their stencil onto t-shirts/fabric using coloured inks
- will dry and heat set their t-shirt ready to wear!

Course Description:
This fun-filled three-hour session with one of Megalo’s experienced printmakers, will introduce students to the fun, messy and playful world of relief and mono printing. The workshop will explore the simple and effective processes of foam and contact relief printing and Perspex monoprinting, using images inspired by stories from far off lands and tales from our own backyards. Students will get the experience of hand printing with Japanese Baren and the Megalo portable press.
Course Outline:
Students will
- be shown examples of relief and monoprints from the Megalo archive to inspire and explain the various print processes used
- firstly draw and sketch ideas for their relief and mono plates
- make a foam and contact relief plate for printing using their drawings as inspiration
- be guided through the process of printing their blocks using coloured inks and the Megalo press and Japanese Barens
- have the opportunity to try monoprinting using Perspex plates

We are happy to develop a class to support a particular theme or topic, or to provide a printmaking class to support excursions to the National Gallery of Australia, National Portrait Gallery or the National Museum.
