This was my project aim: to create a body of work for exhibition that represents factors influencing the health of bees in Aotearoa New Zealand, in the context of the ongoing discourse of urgently required sustainability. The intention was to explore and create a visual message about our ecology’s health. Aspects like climate change, environmental degradation, depletion of resources and pollution, and their effects are becoming an increasing priority for all people. I wanted to examine the anthropological view of our responsibilities towards our environment more closely. I chose to present my examination of this by focusing on the macro, the small species, as a sign of environment health - He Tohu Tahu Toura.
Using native and exotic plants as the base material for her experimental practice, Eason endeavours to align methodology and message in paper-based works featuring varied approaches to printmaking, mark making and dye-application. A guiding principle of her practice-based research is to reduce the impact her creative practice has on the environment.
