Megalo welcomes exhibition proposals from interested artists and groups. Proposals should be for exhibitions which are print-based, or related in some way to the Megalo progams or to multiple art forms.

Exhibition proposals should be submitted in writing and provide the following information:

- contact details (for group shows, please nominate one person as the main contact)

- name of artist/s involved

- a written statement outlining the proposed exhibition including a description of the work as well as the conceptual basis or theme of the exhibition (no more than 1 page)

- duration and preferred timing

- current resume/s (no more than 2 pages per artist)

- CD containing images (jpgs) of work to be exhibited or examples of recent work plus a list of the images/jpgs including details of titles, media, size and date completed

Exhibition proposals will be considered on merit and to create a balanced exhibition program supporting Megalo’s aims and objectives. The Megalo Management Committee reserves the right to accept or reject exhibition proposals. Exhibition dates will be discussed with applicants prior to confirmation.

- Gallery hire for artists exhibiting at Megalo is charged at $250 per week and must be paid in full prior to the exhibition hanging.

- A promotional fee of $300 is required to cover listings in relevant journals and websites, design and printing of 500 invitations and inclusion in quarterly mail-out to 350 VIPs and members

- The minimum hire period is 3 weeks.

- A deposit of $250 is required before exhibition dates are confirmed.

- Hanging and de-mounting of the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist, however Megalo staff are happy to assist the process and give curatorial advice.

- Megalo reserves the right to exclude works from exhibition or to require the rehanging of works that are not presented at an acceptable standard.

- Megalo commission for work sold during exhibitions is 25%.


Sitting the Gallery
The Gallery is supervised by Megalo staff during opening hours 9.30 – 5.00 Tuesday – Saturday.

Exhibition Openings
Exhibition opening events are held at 6pm on the first Thursday of the exhibition. Exhibition openings at other times may be discussed with Megalo staff.

Exhibition Catering

- Food and drink for the opening are to be provided by the artist.

- The artist is responsible for the setting up and cleaning related to the catering and opening.

- Megalo can provide wine glasses and food platters.

- Catering arrangements should be discussed with Megalo in the week prior to the opening.

Exhibition Set-Up, Close and “Make Good”
Set up and take down of the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist. Artists should remove all work from the gallery on the last day of the hire period and 'make good' any marks or damage to the gallery walls caused by them. Materials to patch, sand and paint gallery walls will be provided.

Insurance
Insurance of works is the responsibility of the artist.

Sale of Artwork
Sales of all work will attract a commission at the rate of 25% of the total sale price.
Megalo will:

- Manage sales, cash handling and credit card facilities

- Liaise with purchasers to organise collection of work.

- Remit all monies owing to the artist less commission within one month of receiving payment for artworks.

Invitations
The design and printing of invitations is done by Megalo in consultation with the artist and is included as part the promotional fee.  

Exhibition Advertising
If additional advertising is required, the cost is to be met by the artist. Megalo can assist the artist by booking advertisements at discount rates in The Canberra Times Panorama pages. Two weeks’ notice is required if an advertisement is required.
