KATIE GLASKIN, New Year's Dream, 2021, Reduction linocut print on Magnani 300gsm paper

Paper size: 58 cm x 76 cm | Image size: 44.5 cm x 65 cm

A Japanese friend once told me that in Japanese culture the first dream of the New Year carries portent of the future, and New Year’s Dream is my evocation of this, based on an abstract watercolour painting I attempted to recreate in reduction linocut. This reflects an interest in the play of shape and colour to create landscapes of memory, residues of things experienced and ended, intimations of things to come, and the interplay between.

New Year’s Dream has an edition of 6 prints and was made at the Swan River Print Studio on an 1857 Columbian Press.
