DEBORAH METZ, Seasponge Adrift with Eroded Rockface Pattern, 2021, mokuhanga
Paper size: 96.5 cm x 160 cm | Image size: 89 cm x 152.5 cm
This image has arisen from my continued interest sparked by the relief impressions of coastal rock surfaces. The resultant rubbing I took gives an inherent sense of movement despite coming from a part of the naturally hard rock surface. The sea sponge is when dry hard and brittle but retains the illusion to movement in even its dried form. These two states are my inspiration.
